pyrogy girl Posted August 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2010 My dad and I depart on Sept. 25th for a 10 day "Footsteps of the Cossacks" river cruise in the Ukraine. Some interesting group tours are available, but they are heavy on churches, palaces, museums. Has anyone booked private guides to: make better use of limited sight seeing time and/or to go to "hidden gems" that the locals love (places not typically offered on a tour). We'd really appreciate any info or recommendations. We will be visiting Kiev, Kremenchuk, Zaporzhye, Kherson, Sevastapol, Yalta and Odessa. Oh yes, we also have 2 1/2 days to spend in Istanbul. We will go to the Grand Bazaar and Topkapi Palace. Any other suggestions? :)
shoshona2 Posted August 23, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2010 We used the services of Intourist Ltd. for Odessa, Sevastopol and Yalta several years ago on a Black Sea Cruise. They were wonderful. We had six in our group and they gave us suggestions and we refined the tours to what we wanted to see. email: intour@yalta.crimea.ua or lili@yalta.crimea.ua Sheila
