redsol1 Posted February 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2005 I was wondering what the snorkeling in GC was like since the huricane. Is it still worth it or has the reefs and refuges been totaled?? THanks La' Redsol1
JaKetravels Posted February 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2005 Hi, I can't speak for what it was like before Ivan but we found the snorkeling to be great. The beaches can be rather messy with tress still down and debris strewn about but with all the devasation I think that is last on the list of things to clean up. Of course the private beaches like the one at Westin and Rum Point have all been cleaned up it's the out of the way places that are in need of a good cleaning. Someone did tell us that a lot of the coral did die due to Ivan but I can't say for sure if that was the case at cemetary reef since there so many fish. We did a sting ray city/ snorkel trip out of Rum point that was great. It was run by Red Sails and was approx. 2 hours and cost $30 pp American. I think it may run out of the Westin too but the rate may be different you will need to check...
