RCI family dinning option-how does it work

We will be on AOS in March out of San Juan. Read a little about the family dinning option on their website. Sounds like kids get served within first 45 minutes then get shuffled off to kids program while adults can finish with their dinners. Has anyone been through this and does it work well?

I tried it last year. It sounds good in theory, but the PARENTS are the ones who shuffle the kids off to the kids program. They don't come to your table. I just didn't appreciate having to get up from my dinner and meet them outside the MDR, on their schedule - right at 6:40 pm. I preferred, if we wanted, to take ds up to AO, anytime after 7 pm.
