MSC POESIA CANADA/NE 2ndOct10 -questions about drinks alcohol/non-alocohol

We are booked on the Poesia from N.Y. to Quebec on 2nd October 2010.

As we have never been on MSC, we have some questions about the Beverages.

Can one bring wine/champagne on board or is it prohibited?

Can one bring hard liquor on board (Vodka)?

Can one bring soft drinks on board (e.g.Coke)?

I have heard that they are charging for Ice Tea with lunch and dinner-isthis true? Is tap water free?

If they charge for Ice Tea, is the Ice Tea included in package #593 "American Soda Package" @ USD 29.00 per package?

Now to the Wines:

At what price do the red wines start in the Dining Room, and the white ones, per bottle?

Does anyone suggest to buy the Wine package #520 @ USD 100.00 p.pckg.

We are a group of 8 and have never been on MSC, but been on other lined.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

MSC has very reasonable wine packages. We are on Poesia, Oct. 16 for 16 nights, we bought two packages, one package includes 10 bottles the other 7. We paid about $160 for both packages

Hi leslieswiger

Officially you are not allowed to bring any food or beverages onboard. very occasionally you encounter someone in security who will confiscate them and return them to you at the end of the cruise. The vast majority of passengers seem to be able to bring a bottle or 2 onboard in checked baggae and even hand baggae...but if you do decide to try there is no absoulte guarantee that you can.

Tap water is free on US sailings, can't comment about iced tea as I never touch the stuff.

It's been a few years since I was on a US sailing but can tell you that both white and red wine prices start at about 17 or 18 euros per bottle, a lot are in the range of 20-28 euros and then you have the premium ones which will be about double that, if that is any help to yu. Onboard drinks purchases now have a 15% service charge added. have to say from my experience those wine packages sound quite reasonable. Youu will get a book of vouchers for either 7 or 19 bottles and you just hand one over whenever you want another bottle. If you don't finish a bottle at dinner, they will keep it for you and have it waiting on the table (or in an ice bucket if white) the next night at dinner when you arrive.
