Bearcat1946 Posted September 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2010 Has anyone ever rented a small scooter (less than 21" wide to fit in a regular room) that they have taken on a cruise? I have always rented the bigger ones as I am a bigger person, however, I recommend http://www.carevacations.com/ Regardless of the cruise length 7-11 days, I have paid $350 for the scooter, and it is always in my room waiting for me when I board. They rent to all cruise lines. This is their site for the smaller scooters: http://www.carevacations.com/cruiseshipassist/mobility-equipment/light-weight-scooter/
xxoocruiser Posted September 10, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2010 Has anyone ever rented a small scooter (less than 21" wide to fit in a regular room) that they have taken on a cruise? I have always rented the Mid Size Scooter 21" wide from Carevacations. It fit's through most standard cabin doors. The arms easily come off to make it easier fitting through the door if needed . But I have left them on with no problem. I have never had a problem with this scooter when I book regular cabins. http://www.carevacations.com/cruiseshipassist/mobility-equipment/mid-size-scooter/ Carevations also has a Light Size scooter that's 19.5" wide that also fits through most standard cabin doors. http://www.carevacations.com/cruiseshipassist/mobility-equipment/light-weight-scooter/ Tips for using a scooter in a standard cabin. Have more floor room to manuver scooter if beds are set up as twins Either have the coffee table removed or placed at the end of the sofa between the bed. Alway make certain desk chair is push in. If room is set up like you will be able to do a 3 point turn to drive the scooter out rather than backing the scooter out of the cabin.
xxoocruiser Posted September 10, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2010 Forgot to put on my previous post : IMPORTANT When renting a scooter, selection is based on the person's weight first. Not the size of the doorway it needs to fit through. So depending on the weight of your friend she may or may not be able to rent a scooter that will fit through a standard cabin doorway.
