pap5211 Posted September 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2010 We want to go to a nearby beach from the port in Kauai. Any ideas how to get there? Taxi, bus, ???
Putterdude Posted September 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2010 We took a taxi that was at the lot in front of the ship. You could also the shuttle to the nearby shops which has a beach beside them.
beachchick Posted September 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2010 Kaihuna is not near the pier. It is about 30 minutes by car from the pier and in the Poipu area. If you want a beach right by the pier, you'll want to try Kalapaki beach, which fronts the Marriott. All beaches in Hawaii are public, so you can access it no problem. Do keep in mind that although hotels are required to allow non-guests beach access, they are not required to allow non-guests to use any hotel/resort facilities (e.g., pool, gym, spa, beach toys). I believe that there are rentals of equipment and chairs available for non-guests at Kalapaki. You can walk (15 minutes?), taxi (not very expensive), or catch a bus (maybe, don't know any route or schedule). It's super easy from the pier. beachchick
