martyap Posted September 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2010 We plan to pick up a rental at SJU and drive to the Wyndham Rio Mar for one night. Next morning, after spending some time at El Junque we head back to the Marriott Stellaris for a night. We understand that driving in PR should offer no unusual challenges. Both Hertz and Charlies have offices at or near the Marriott so return should be no problem. Any preference based on your experiences? Marty:confused: I have rented from both a few times including Avis. It's really a price issue or if your need to have a specifc make of car. Sometimes Hertz is cheaper using AAA. I rented from Charlie in Aug. and he was cheaper by $80 for a 5 day rental. Sometimes he is equal to are more expensive. No real challenges to driving in PR on the main roads. Road signs are in Spanish but intuitive. San Juan and surrounding highways get congested especially during rush hours, like any other city. If you drive in NYC then PR is a snap. Going on back roads can be a little difficult depending on where you are. A GPS with PR maps is very helpful. Easy drive to the Rio Mar from the Airport.
