rabbit4500 Posted October 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2010 Which one would get us the most action? I'm looking at either doing Stuart Cove in Nassau ($65 pp) - we're in port 7-2, or Blue Water Divers in Grand Turk ($50 pp) - we're in 11-5:30. Definately wanting to avoid the cruise ship crowd. Anything in either port we should do rather than snorkel? I'm also considering the golf carts and of course, Jack's Shack in Grand Turk. Haven't looked into Nassau too much yet... Stevesan Posted October 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2010 It's a no brainer - Stuart's Cove! :D Nassau: “Snorkel Bahamas Adventure” is a 5-½ hour trip operated by Stuart’s Cove. The boat trip is @ three hours, and visits Schoolhouse Reef, the spectacular Golden Key Reef and finally a “swim with the sharks” at ‘The Wreck of the Bahama Mama’. I have never before witnessed such a number and variety of fish as at Golden Key. There are never-ending fish, large and small, singly and in large schools. The floor is decorated with huge, magnificent coral formations of all shapes and sizes. While there, a shark cruised past our group. He obviously thought this was his ocean and didn’t know, nor care, that we weren’t scheduled for a shark encounter until after Golden Key. Surprisingly, getting in with a dozen or so sharks is not frightening. I suspect we were too caught up with their grace and magnificence to be scared. The fact that the boat captain hadn’t lost a diver in twelve years was also encouraging. This is a five star, gold medallion, prime trip, not to be missed! jimw Posted October 9, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2010 We did Stuart Cove's shark dive several years ago--it was a rather long bus ride to his place--mabe 40 minutes. You're not there very long and I think you would miss the 7:45 bus.........Anyway, check his site for cruiseship snokeling and diving for the time needed, etc. We also dove at Grand Turk and it was great! Would do the wall there again and again. The shark dive was fun, but not in the class of GT. That said, I don't know about snorkeling Grand Turk, I only dove there. I have snorkeled a couple of places around Nassau and it's ok, but I would try GT.
sharks48 Posted October 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2010 Don't know about the Nassau outfit, but Blue Water Divers is fantastic!! We loved our snorkel with them [only four of us on a small boat]. Would go again with them in a heartbeat and recommend them heartily.
