How is it? Where is it? French Quarter? Is it wild? Are there lots of people? Fireworks? Is drinking permitted in the streets? Is there some weird no alcohol policy after 2am? No gangbanger, thuggish ruffian incidents folks or incidents? Party till the break of dawn or until you gotta catch the cruise ship? :p

I've done majority of my New Years in Las Vegas. I've only done two in Reno. We like lots of people. We like to be able to drink in the streets. We like fireworks or a recognizable countdown.

Anybody done New Years in New Orleans and Miami? Which is better? Why?

You would probably like NYE in New Orleans.

No lack of people, booze, fireworks, countdown, etc.

Pictures from 2005 NYE (just a few months after Katrina):

and from 2007:

New Orleans does know how to throw a party.

Next year the Sugar Bowl is Jan 4, so usually a number of people going to the game come in early.
