June 9 QM2 Crossing ground transport

Hello,

Does anyone know from previous experience whether or not I can book

ground transport from Southampton to my London hotel (or at least to a

nearby station) while on board the ship? Or is it best to book such things

prior to departure? Or does Cunard include such things in the fare? Also

what is the best method for travel: coach, train, cab, etc? I'm an absolute

newbie regarding a cruise of this magnitude so am a bit aprehensive. Thank

you all for any help on this question.

We would like information on this too.

We are doing the crossing in June.

Our travel agent said the transfer could only be done on board and it is expensive.

Aren't there any limo services that we could contact?

Any help would be really appreciated!

We would like to go directly to our hotel in London.

HELP!

YOur travel agent should be able to help you! It has been our experience that it is much cheaper and more timely to do our own transportation. I think you could easily take a taxi to the train station and take the train to London, then taxi to your hotel. However, we have had great luck at hiring a car - your TA can arrange this, or e-mail the concierge at your hotel and ask if they can arrange it. The private car and driver is usually not much more expensive than public transportation, it is nicer, and it doesn't require you to travel on anyone else's timetable but your own!

Try this firm in Southampton

http://www.silver-fleet.com/default.htm

They only charge £130 into central London. There are probably lots more in Southampton and they will meet you at the ship. You can order on line or by phone.

Our experience of using them to London and airports is that the drivers are excellent, the cars are very smart and clean and they do not have "Taxi" written on them.

Have a great trip.

Under "Voyage Options" on Cunard's website, you can book a train ride from Southampton to London. We are going on the April 10th crossing, and have booked this transportation to London.

It is a full day country tour with lunch & dinner for $300/person.
