zzczopfamily Posted October 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2010 We just returned from the Valor, sailing Oct 10 to 17th. We travelled with our friends. So, first hand I can tell you room 6445 was ours and we were over the Piano Bar, at times we could actually lay in bed and sing the songs with them. This bar went till aroun 130am. Our friends lived through a week in room 6404, BOOM BOOM BOOM lets not go back to that room. They were over the disco....yup boom boom boom went the beat till 2-3am. We had a great time, loved the ship. Going back to choosing my own room!! Not going to a last minute deal!! Darcie
serene56 Posted October 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2010 Chosing your own cabin on the upper deck-- avoid being over the seating area of any lounge. Avoid being over the casino bar as a band sets up there each evening about 9pm. Sorry you learned a very valuable lesson the hard way.
lollylew Posted October 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2010 Yeah, unfortunately, that's the risk you take when booking any type of "guaranteed" room. You basically get what other people didn't want :o Other than the room locations, glad you had a great time! I enjoyed the Valor when I sailed her and had great memories :)
zzczopfamily Posted October 18, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted October 18, 2010 We did have a great time. Our ports were changed up due to hurricane in the gulf of mexico. But who cares...we were safe...and on vacation!! Valor was better then what I thought it was going to be. Just looking to book my next cruise....with Carnival!!!!! tattoos Posted October 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2010 I have read quite a few posts from cruisers very excited because Carnival called them and offered an upgrade to a higher deck. A word of caution, do not accept the upgrade until you have checked a deck plan, the room they want to upgrade you to may be in a horrible location, i.e., under the disco, piano bar, near the galley, in back of the elevators, above the entertainment venues, casino, obstructed view, etc. Some people can sleep thru anything, I can't and always choose my stateroom when I book my cruise after carefully studying deck plans. So glad you had a great cruise, we love the Valor or any Conquest class ship or any ship for that matter. Rose
lady_cruiser Posted October 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 18, 2010 Sign up for cruisedeckplans.com. You can actually drag one deck on top of the other to see what is directly above you. Just make sure you line up the elevators since some decks stick out further than other decks.
