misand Posted October 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2010 Anyone recommend a good post cruise hotel? We are flying out of LGB. We are staying at Crowne Plaza San Pedro before the cruise. Does Long Beach actually have a beach you can go to? Good hotels in the area? Any recommendations for places to visit? Our flight doesn't leave until 4pm on Monday. Ship comes in on Sunday. We are renting a car Sunday into Monday so if we should avoid Long Beach all together that is fine too! Thanks Misand
Putterdude Posted October 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2010 We got the Hyatt in LB in May by bidding on Priceline for $60 and were very happy with the hotel and location.

Thanks Misand Yes, Long Beach does have a beach....no waves, however (it's protected by a seawall). If you're looking for surf, just south of LB is Huntington Beach (about 30-45 minute drive down the coast). The Hyatt, Hilton, Renaissance, Westin are all within walking distance of the beach. There is a bike/walk path; lots of restaurants within walking distance, too. If you want to stay up near the LB Airport, there is a Marriott, Residence Inn, & the Holiday Inn. Rare PatriciaF Posted October 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2010 If you stay downtown, there will be a charge for parking. However, there are lots of restaurants downtown, on Pine Ave, Seaport Village, or The Pike. Also, there is the Passport Shuttle, which will is free downtown. And around $1.50 to go out further. The Long Beach Marriott is the nicest hotel near the airport. As an alternative, there are two fairly new hotels near the 405 freeway and Seal Beach Blvd. The Ayres Hotel and the Hampton Inn (at Westminster Ave (2nd St. in Long Beach) and Seal Beach Blvd.) There isn't a sand beach downtown until you are east of Alamitos Ave. At the far eastern end of Long Beach is Alamitos Bay and the Peninsula. Both very popular beach destinations. If you are looking for waves, once you get into Orange County, there are waves.
