What would be a good excursion for family of 5, Kids ages 12, 13, & 10?

I think alot depends on their interests. I loved ruins at that age and there are the ruins of Chichen Itza, Uxmal and others within distance.

 

If you want beaches, there are those too.

Besides this board, also checkout http://www.yucatantoday.com , an excellent visitor's guide. This port has alot of options but does need some research.

I think the kids would really enjoy a trip to Uxmal with a stop at a cenote for swimming on the way. That way you get your ruins and a really fun adventure-type swimming experience for them. They will talk about it for years to come.
