Where to eat (AGAIN)?

TroubleT

Recommended Posts

We'll be in SJ a day prior to our cruise and we'd like to know where we can eat (light dinner and breakfast) in OSJ (close to Sheraton Old San Juan)? I found a few places that were recommended in other threads on this Board and here is the summary:

Breakfast at La Bonbonera (have a mallorca pastry/hot chocolate) or at La Mallorca.

Dinner restaurant for PR food: El Jibarito.

Cafe El Punto for dinner.

Can you recommend other places (we would like to have more choices)? Just a note: we don't need a big and heavy meal for dinner, and for breakfast it could be just some pastries and tea/coffee.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I second the idea of breakfast at "La Bombonera". Not sure what day of the week you are going, but if on a weekday or Saturday, you can walk from your hotel. (You could also walk on Sunday but early in the morning the city might be a bit deserted).

For dinner close to the pier I have had excellent food at "El Toro Salado", next to starbucks, very close to Plaza Colón. If you are interested in authentic Puerto Rican cuisine or experience, then I would recommend "Raices", which is also very close to the pier. "Dragonfly", and "Aguaviva" get very good reviews and are a bit pricier, and offer "fusion" cuisine. Very close to Dragonfly and Aguaviva there is an italian restaurant that is very good, but I can't remember the name.

Enjoy!
