Fly into Miami or Fort Lauderdale for Amazon Cruise

Could someone tell we if it is better to fly into Fort Lauderdale or Miami when departing on the Amazon cruise. We are leaving on March 19, 2011 and are flying in on March 18. If staying in Fort lauderdale is it difficult and expensive to get a taxi to take us to the pier in Miami?

Ina; It seems more practical if flights work for you to fly into Miami and stay overnight at the Homestead Inn & Suites or the Hampton Suites. We chose the Homestead only because it had larger rooms and a full breakfast vs. Hampton Inn's definition of a full breakfast. We are on the Nov. sailing as you know and reserved back in late August at a senior rate of $108 for a King Deluxe room. The hotel is right around the block from the Hampton. It offers service to the port for a modest fee. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I checked the air fares from NYC to Fort Lauderdale and to Miami, and the fare is $100 less into Fort Lauderdale. That's the reason I was thinking of FLL. Does anyone know how much a car service to Miami would be.

We fly into and stay in Ft. Lauderdale before a cruise. We have used A1A Limo many times. Call them at 1-800-330-4762 for a quote. Clean, modern cars and drivers who are personable, courteous, and best of all, on time.

For accommodations, we stay at the Embassy Suites (ES) on SE 18th Causeway. Happy hour and a complete breakfast. Also ES is an all suite hotel.
