luv-to-cruz Posted November 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2010 Going to Antigua in Dec. with NCL. Is it possible to visit Half Moon Bay? It didn't look as if there is a cruise excursion offered there. Not sure if the Antigua By Sea excursion which stops at Green Island is best choice. Need your opinion. DougYWG Posted November 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2010 At grave risk of being shot down by others, I say forget Half Moon. Although it is quite a pretty area, it is deserted. Nobody there, no facilities at all other than a small parking lot. The sand is hardly six feet wide in places. Or at least it was last time I was there. Rather spoiled by the hulk of an abandoned hotel on one side. So there!

I'm not sure what Antigua By Sea entails but if you're spending the day on a boat the waves can be fairly big so plan for it.

Half moon bay is a lovely, long and quiet beach. It would not be my choice if on a cruise and reliant on taxi's though. There are no facilities and is is quite a long distance from the port. We did the Excellence tour that was a high speed catamaran that circumnavigated the island and stopped at Green Island and really enjoyed our day. The ride out was extremely rough for about 20 minutes but after that it was calm.
