Runner Girl Posted February 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Okay, I keep reading complaints on the Carnival board about cabs not wanting to take people to hotels when they disembark, they just want to take people to the airport. They can't seem to get a cab until all the airport people are gone. How can I arrange transportation from the port to our hotel and avoid this frustration? Cotton Posted February 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2005 I don't remember having seen that comment made, and I hope that's not true. I know the fare is MUCH more to the airport ($28?), as opposed to anywhere in CBD or the Quarter ($7), but those cabs just make a quick run to the hotel and return to the pier for other passengers....so from what I've heard, they do just as well as the long run to the airport.
GreenIdScorpio Posted February 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2005 So it is fairly easy to catch a cab when disembarking? I'm staying at Le Pavillon post-cruise and am looking forward to it. Just from the pics online the place looks like a class-act.
Runner Girl Posted February 24, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted February 24, 2005 I've read it on some Conquest reviews. Well, maybe we'll just let the cabbie assume we are going to the airport and after he's loaded our luggage into the cab and we've gotten in, we'll tell him we are going to a LeRicheleau. He probably won't kick us out by then. ;) If what I've been reading is true, I think it's unethical to be that way.
zydecocruiser Posted February 24, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2005 Ethical or not, I believe it is illegal, but the Taxi bureau doesn't monitor things like they should. If someone gives you static, be sure to get some basic info (driver name, cab company, cab number) and report them: http://www.new-orleans.la.us/cnoweb/util/html/taxicab_complaint_.html
