MSN-Travelers Posted November 23, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2010 We will be in PV on January 1st, on the Sapphire Princess. We are considering Princess shore excursion for "Snorkeling at Marietas Islands". Has anyone done that, and how was your experience? This is a copy of the response I posted on the Princess board to this question ... Snorkeling along the MR is, at best, a marginal experience. While we haven’t been on this specific Princess excursion, we have been on a number of sailing day excursions to the Marietas Islands that included snorkeling. Compared to the Caribbean, most MR destinations offer only cloudy water and limited underwater structure to attract & hold fish. Banderas Bay (including the Marietas Islands) isn’t a great snorkeling destination. It is what it is. We have just returned from our annual stay in Vallarta. The water is cooler this November than we have experienced in past years. We never recommend people book snorkeling excursions in Vallarta where the sole attraction is the snorkeling. The boat ride, whale/dolphin encounters, time/sights at the destination, food & drink as-well-as the time in the water should be enjoyed as a package. Princess often contracts with Vallarta Adventures for many of the excursions offered through the ship. This may be the excursion that you would actually be on- http://www.vallarta-adventures.com/t...-eco-discovery We have never been on a Vallarta Adventures excursion that we didn’t enjoy (and we take several every year). Enjoy!
