jessie073 Posted February 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Hello all - my fiance and I will be cruising again to Cozumel this summer. We are thinking of just doing some snorkeling on our own this time without booking an excursion so we have more time to ourselves. We snorkeled Dzul Ha last time we were there from a boat (and loved it) but does anyone know how to get there by land? I can't remember if there was a beach there or any restaurants? can anyone sugguest any other places - I read on a site about Playa Bella that was good and also read some people that were disappointed in Chakkanab (sp) Park. We love to snorkel and love to see coral and fish so that's important. I went on a ship snorkel trip one time that took us to a spot that was like a parking lot - nothing to see. Would love any suggestions anyone my have that has done something similar. Thanks :)

cali-croozer Posted February 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2005 No place can satisfy everyone, but my family (2 adults, 2 teen boys) really enjoyed our day at Chankanaab. We have not snorkeled at Dzul Ha, so cannot compare the snorkeling.
ScubaMare Posted February 24, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2005 I've snorkeled (& dived) both and I enjoy Dzul Ha more. I think the variety of fish is greater. And, no entrance fee at Dzul Ha. That having been said, if you're wanting a place with more to do and see then Chankanaab is great. It is a natural park and there are nature trails and replicas of Mayan statues, ruins, etc. Fairly decent restaurant and bar, too.
