caber Posted November 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2010 Does anyone know if there are any nice wines for sale in any of the shops at the dock in Barbados? We won`t have time to go anywhere other than there before we sail. I like a nice dry fruity wine. At home we drink New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Any recommendations welcome, or at any other Caribbean port. Thank you.
cruisingbajan Posted November 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2010 There should be quite a nice selection of wines available as well as hard liquor. I am not a wine person so I have no idea what is available.
barbados Posted November 24, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2010 How far west of Scotland may I ask? Maybe Belfast or Dublin? I was born in Edinburgh so my ears always perk up when I hear Scotland. Please contact Roger or Andrew at Wine Barbados, our retail distributors on the island at: sales@uk-favourites.com They know everything available on the island and where to procure it. My best wishes for a wonderful visit! :)
caber Posted November 26, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted November 26, 2010 Barbados, We live in what we call the West of Scotland, Glasgow area, about 40 miles from Edinburgh. We don`t arrive at the airport in Barbodos until 4 p.m. and the ship sails at 9.p.m. I was hoping that one of the shops at the quay would stock a nice white wine as time will be short after we get onboard, with muster drills etc. Unfortunately on this trip we will not be able to see anything of the island. I will use the contact address you have given me to enquire. Thank you.

caber Posted November 26, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted November 26, 2010 You may also be able to find a nice one at the duty free shop in the airport. Unfortunately we won`t be able to look. We are fortunate to be on a charter flight with Princess. When we arrive we are taken straight from the plane to buses on to the port. Our luggage follows on. Well, that is the way it has been up until now, unless there has been a change. This is why we British love to fly into Barbados. It is much more pleasant than queueing to go through US customs in some ports.
barbados Posted November 27, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 27, 2010 Yep, I know where you are! Good to hear from a fellow Scot. I made a few calls and I found Hunter’s Sauvignon Blanc from NZ available at our Waterfront cafe in B-town. I can't pin down it's existance at the quay shops on a weekend, however. So, it's on the island and you may be able to find it at the quay shops. We don't have a miraid selection of wines (Lots of rums, however), but you may be lucky. Ring-up Roger or Andrew and I'll bet that they'll know. Best wishes to you for a grand holiday. :) :) :)
