Chocolate Chip Cookie Posted December 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2010 I saw on the Captain's Club website that Select & Elite members are extended invitations to the Senior Officer's Cocktail Party. What exactly is this? What kind of cocktails are served and are they complimentary? Does it usually happen on formal night? Does the captain attend? Lsimon Posted December 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 11, 2010 What exactly is this? A cocktail party where the senior officers mingle with the guests. What kind of cocktails are served and are they complimentary? A variety of different drinks from martinis (think small vodka, gin or apple) to beer and wine. Servers will be carrying trays with a variety on them and will usually fill requests but not for anything too elaborate. All complimentary.Does it usually happen on formal night? NoDoes the captain attend? Yes

Yes I wasn't sure if it was one of those things where everyone gathers in the theater and everyone does a toast or an actual cocktail party...from what you have said, it seems more like the latter. Thank You :)
Amagamma Posted December 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 11, 2010 Just off the Eclipse, party was held on a smart casual night at 7:45. Did not have the regular 4-6 cocktail hour that day. Held in the Sky Lounge, band playing, Most of the Sr Officers standing in line to shake hands, menu of drinks posted, some of the waiters would get you most anything, others would only give you what is on posted menu. Not as many on the menu as elite cocktail hour. Servers seemed to disappear close to the end. A nice touch, late seating diners had to leave, early seating diners came after dinner. Lsimon Posted December 11, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2010 I wasn't sure if it was one of those things where everyone gathers in the theater ... The party is held in one of the entertainment lounges. Usually in the the lounge at the forward end of the top deck, or the aft entertainment lounge over the dining room on C class. There is usually live music as well. For a year or two they were holding this late morning (yes...cocktails before noon:eek:) but they've returned to putting it on in the evening, sometimes before early dining and sometimes between the two main dinner sittings. There is usually live music, all Senior Officers are there and the Captain makes a short speech as well.
jackdiamond Posted December 11, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2010 It is usually very crowded; hence, on our Christmas cruise we will either be sipping our merlot at that time or eating dinner in Blu.

On our recent Constellation cruise, there was a party at 5:15 for early dining guests and 7:45 for late ones. Gerry

Gerry That's a great idea. I don't think I've seen that before.
