Sailing out of Barcelona

We're sailing out of Barcelona on Oct. 17th and have a few questions. When flying from the US, which eastern US airport is used to fly to Barcelona? What time is the flight? When does the flight arrive in Barcelona and how early can you board the ship? Thanks.

We left Boston for Barcelona the night before on a 6:00 pm flight....we arrived in Barcelona the next day and board the Star Princess around Noon time and boarded right away... We had something to eat got off the ship and walked around Barcelona for a few hours got back on the ship ate dinner then went to bed. We toured for about 3 hours the next morning then the ship sailed at 1:00. Terrific trip!

Hi!

There are quite a few options and it depends on whether you are purchasing airfare through the cruise line, traveling on frequent flyer miles, or booking your air independently. Since Denver is a hub for United, there might be a flight from O'Hare that will allow you to by-pass the East Coast. The main eastern hubs will probably be Boston, Newark, and JFK. Flights might also be available from Dulles, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and possibly Miami or even Baltimore. The usual departure time is 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, depending on the airline and airport location. Usual arrival in Europe is early morning (6:00 AM to 8:00 AM). It sounds like Jayne's cruise spent the night in port and that relieves some of the time pressures.

Have a great cruise!

There is a roll call started for the 10/17 sailing of the Grand, hope you will join us there so we can help one another with all the questions we will have. We are using frequent flyer miles for this trip and AA scheduled us to fly from Tulsa to Chicago and leave from there about 6:00pm Saturday night 10/15, we stop in Brussels briefly and then on the Barcelona, arriving early in the afternoon on Sunday. We can board the next day, drop off our luggage and go back out to see more of Barcelona, we have a late sailing 10:00, so can come back to the ship for dinner and be out on deck champagne in hand for the sailaway. We flew in 2 days early. Used Princess air at the time. Left Newark at nite & arrived at Heathrow early AM. Had a few hrs. layover & then on to Barcelona, which is an 1 1/2 hr. flight. We had a 1/2 day excursion the day of the cruise. Arrived at the pier at around 1PM & it was already very crowded. If we didn't have the excursion, I would have gotten to the pier at around 11 - 11:30 AM.
