Eurocruiser2010 Posted January 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2011 In a recent post, Scubagirrl mentioned a Taxi Tour including Lunch at Travelers Rest Can anyone answer a few questions about this recommendation, including: 1. How far is Travelers Rest from the cruise dock? 2. What would you see on the taxi tour and how long would it be? How much would it cost? 3. Do you just walk up to any taxi driver and tell them you want a tour? 4. Would the taxi driver wait for us at Travelers Rest? Thanks for any help you can give ... and as always, thanks to the Super Scubagirrl!

But yes, the pier is full of cabbies looking to load up for a tour. Some here have had great tours this way. We did that, and the tour was the pits. There used to be a cabbie that folks raved about here. But, I haven't heard him mentioned in a long time now. His name was Otis, sometimes spelled Ottis. If you search the forum, you'll find his cellphone number.
scubagirrl Posted January 3, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Actually, this wasnt' intended as a specific taxi tour.. just one that you could ask a cabbie to take you to some interesting sightseeing destinations.. similar to those that Otis and others do. Travelers Rest is about 30 minutes from downtown on west bay street out by compass point.. it overlooks the water and is a nice respise for a day of sightseeing. I usually suggest you either ask the cabbie to have lunch while he waits (and pay for it, of course).. or ask him to return in an hour.
