Onboard Credit deposit

Daughters family does not have a credit card. According to the NCL web site if you use cash for your onboard credit account instead of a credit card, they require $100 a day per person so for 2 people 7 day cruise it would be $1400 down. After calling the people at NCl they said it is $500 per person for the first to people in the room for the entire cruise not per day. So 2 people would be $1000. Has anybody used cash for there deposit and if so how much did they really require at check in. Im not real comfortable with what the people at NCL tell me.
