CruisinTanya Posted January 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2011 Our ship will port in St. Marteen and we couldn't get the exact excursion we wanted, but we are mostly interested in snorkeling. Are there beaches where you can just rent snorkel equipment on your own or do you have to bring it? Thanks!
Lsimon Posted January 24, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2011 My experiance at most items has been that at beaches that have nice quality snorkeling there is usually vendors that rent snorkeling equipment, and often dive operators. Frankly, the beaches we've been to on St. Martin didn't have decent snorkeling and I don't recall seeing snorkeling equipment rentals. I think you'll do better determining where there might be good snorkeling and then asking about, maybe even googling, vendors on that beach to see if they rent snorkeling equipment. That's not saying there are not good places to snorkel, just that I haven't been to any there. Although St. Martin is best known for it's beautiful pristine beaches and turquoise waters than areas with lots of coral and nice snorkeling. Orient beach is just awesome - a mile or so of beautiful sand and water.
