Mexfolkart Posted January 17, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2011 There is a wonderful museum in town with all of the relics from Knossos..we were told to see it FIRST, and THEN go to Knossos..when we got to Knossos we were very glad we did as it pulled it all into perspective..Knossos is fabulous! capecod14 Posted January 20, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2011 We just came back from an unscheduled stop in Crete - Athens was on strike the day that was planned for our stop. Crete was one of our favorite stops. We just hired a taxi and took off. Our driver took us to Konosos first and it was good - we beat the buses and we were the first to arrive. We did hire a private guide when we got there - it was 60 euros for 8 people. Well worth it! We had a gentleman that spoke many languages. We also went to the museum, the Greek Cathedral and then went to lunch at Alexanders - right on the beach! On a nice day you could go for a swim (depending on when you go of course.
