Freeport/Nassau Beaches

Will be going to Freeport/Nassau in the middle of March on the Carnival Fantasy. Trying to keep the on shore experience as inexpensive as possible. I am hearing that it is possible to walk/taxi to a resort beach as long as you stay off of the resort grounds. Is this true? If so what's the best way to get there?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

In Nassau there is Cabbage Beach on Paradise Is just down from Atlantis. Water taxi $3 pp each way and a decent walk to beach or regular taxi/van $4 pp each way and can be dropped right Cabbage entrance. Water can be pretty rough at times so please becareful. Also there in Junkanoo Beach which is w/in walking distance from port just be sure you are watching surroundings and also it can be a little run down depending on time of year. look for some recent threads on Junkanoo on this forum and you will find more info. It is past the British Colonial Hilton.

In Freeport take a Taxi/Van into the town called Our Lucaya. there in front of the big hotels you will find a very nice beach with relativly calm water and great for swimming. Also shopping in this area as well. Taxi will run about $5 pp each way.

Hope this helps

The public part of a hotel beach is the wet part near the waters edge. I think people keep getting the wrong idea about this. You are NOT allowed on the beaches in front of a hotel passed the high tide mark unless you are a guest of the hotel.. this means you could walk along the edge.. and in the water, but not use the beach.

There are 2 main public beaches, one near the atlantis (cabbage Beach)., next to the RIU, and the other just outside of town. (junkanoo)
