1stTimer02/2011 Posted February 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2011 Can we get to the Riverwalk Market place quickly from the cruise terminal? Looking to purchase things like sunscreen, shampoo... things that we can't bring with us on the plane because we're packing carry-on only.. From looking at the mall listing, theres a couple stores that we can purchase a few things at.. but more of a time contraint because we're flying in the morning of the cruise... Have the taxi driver drop you off at the Riverwalk. You can access the cruise terminal from the Riverwalk afterwards. Another option is to have the taxi driver stop at a walgreens on the way downtown.
1stTimer02/2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted February 3, 2011 Stopping at a Walgreens might be the best bet.... thanks!
gosaints2006 Posted February 3, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2011 Stopping at a Walgreens might be the best bet.... thanks! After thinking about it, the closest store to the interstate is a new CVS that just opened. It is at I-10 and Carrolton Ave.
World Gallery Posted February 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2011 You won't find any of those items at the Riverwalk so you really do need to go to Walgreens or CVS. The Riverwalk is very similar to a mall with those types of stores and a food court.
Sargent_Schultz Posted February 4, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 4, 2011 I think there is at least one convenience type place in Riverwalk, but it would be cheaper to shop on the cruise ship. ;)

gosaints2006 Posted February 4, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 4, 2011 Is that close to the terminal? You're talking to a Torontonian here... no idea about New Oleans.. lol It's in route, about 5 minutes before the exit you would take for the pier. It is actually one of the few that are right off of the interstate. Other stores are about a mile or so from the exit. I think it just opened within the last week or so. If the taxi driver does not know, tell him to take the "Carrolton-West" exit and it will be on your immediate right. I'll probably be having lunch accross the street at the best chinese restaurant in the city.:p (How do you think I know the CVS is there??) Have fun on your trip. jgmpuma Posted February 4, 2011 #10 Share Posted February 4, 2011 I agree with the Sargent: wait 'til you get on the ship. The shop in the Riverwalk is small and big-time expensive. The cab driver will charge you extra to go out of the way to a drugstore.
ann1bell Posted February 5, 2011 #11 Share Posted February 5, 2011 The Riverwalk opens at noon on Sundays. Not sure what day you embark.
