Msc Opera Review Feb 12, 05

Both Cindy and I (Michel) had the opportunity to cruise on the MSC Opera. I will make this review as complete and brief as i can. There is so much to share, but it would take days and fill lots of paper! First, embarkation was a breeze! I do not know why other cruise lines are not as simple as this was. From pier entrance to Ship no more than 30 min.. You were welcomed to the pier by a stunning Italian Hostess who greets you at the terminal entrance. A special touch. Once on board, you are escorted to the correct elevator to see your room, some people had escorts all the way to their room. It depends on the escort? Some even had white gloves on! O.k. the rooms are small by industry standards these days, but they are not confining in anyway. Lots of storage! Bathroom o.k. , shower is the smallest i have ever seen!!. You can only stand their, in one position to soap up and rinse.(LOL). Removable shower head is a plus. But considering the other pluses, this was a minor flaw. The ship is beautiful, understated elegance, very clean and most of the staff friendly. The dining room, (La' Approdo) aft on the ship, is very pretty and the table we sat at, towards the rear windows, was absolutlety stunning! We had table # 55. Large round.

Waiter Vincenzo and his assistant waiter were very friendly and always accomadating! They learned our likes and dislikes, very fast. They both were efficient and thorough. The food was absolutley, one of the highest standards! This dining room is smaller that the other and it has it's own kitchen, so food comes out piping hot! and delicious. from soups to appetizers, everything was tasty and presented professionally! Some of the earlier complaints seemed to be resolving. These people want to hear how they can better themselves. Kudos to them! Not every line cares about our comments.

The shows were spectacular, some of the best i have seen yet! The violinist, pianist, and opera singer were breathtaking! and receieved standing ovations a few times. The other shows with juggler was funny and good, the magician was incredible, and the last show which was a medley of things including river dancing, brought the house down! Incredible.

All around a great ship, with lots of potential! Buffet needs to be a little better at offerings, but every ship has this problem, that we experienced. Cups are still plastic, and condiments you have to seek. I like the salt and pepper packets, from a hygien standpoint, it is better! Than to touch a thousand other fingers. There were midnight buffets every night! So much food and desert, it was un-believable. Oh by the way, the TIRAMISU !!! MUST HAVE. I nearly fell off the chair during dinner when i took a bite!!!! I am going to end it with that last thought.

For the price, you can't go wrong, you won't make everyone happy, but thats with anything.

Sincerely,

Michel and Cindy

Thank you for the time and effort you put into your review. I must admit that I was a little apprehensive after reading the earlier posts about the "early" cruises, however,it does sound as though they company has made an effort to improve their service and image. I am so looking forward to the transatlantic crossing on April 2nd now and will definitely indulge in the tiramisu,it sounds absolutely decadent (with 0 calories)!!!! Mary:)
