cruise to bermuda questions

Recommended Posts

My husband and I are taking the 5 night cruise from Baltimore to Bermuda in August. I know there are formal nights on the 7 night cruises but are there any on the 5 night cruises? Also, we are thinking about taking the scuba discovery excursion through RCCL. Has anyone tried this and liked/hated it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

We are in Maryland along 95 near the PA border. Looks like you've been on several Grandeur cruises. This is our first. We went on DCL last summer and had a fantastic time. Thought we'd try RCCL without our kids this time around and do DCL next summer again.

We like leaving out of Baltimore & it saves on air fare. We loved Grandeur although we have nothing to compare to being that is the only ship we have sailed. It was a beautiful ship & we had a blast!

It's great to hear that you really had a good time. That makes me even more excited. Too bad it is still 5 months away!!! How did the embarkation and disembarkation go at the port? I've heard various reports.

We got to the terminal about 12:30, parked ( $10.00 a day cash only) & were on the ship in about an hour . Getting on & getting off went very smooth. The terminal itsself isnt very attractive, but who cares what it looks like your going on a Cruise!!

:)Hi Pam & David!

Bermuda is like my second home. I love it there and if I strike it rich, I'll move there. Bemuda has the best snorkeling and I highly recommed Haywards in downtown Hamilton. http://www.haywardscharter.com. His tour is worth every penny! Make sure you buy an underwater camera at home. Things are very expensive in Bermuda. You can snorkel right off the beach -Church Bay, Shelly Bay, John's Long Bay & Tobacco Bay. Don't miss Horseshoe Bay, Royal Navy Dockyard and Fort St. Catherine. Actually, don't miss anything!!

The best way to get around is by motor scooter. Pam, you can ride piggyback or ride your own. They don't go too fast but you must be careful because if you horse around, you could get seriously hurt. You drive on the left like in Europe. We are over 50 and we always rent one to get around the island. You can park it outside your ship and come & go as you please. You can use public transportation (buses) and it is cheaper to buy a 3 day pass instead of one day. It takes longer to get around and you'll still have to walk to the beaches. Cabs are very expensive in Bermuda. Also, you can use the Ferries to get to point A to B or C, etc. There are schedules at the ferry piers in all of the ports. Some are express and some stop at every Province.

I hope this info was helpful and if I can help in anyway just let me know. I know you'll have a wonderful and memorable vacation.

What is fun to do at night ?

Hi P & D!

Actually, Bermuda is not a place for night life. Bermuda has one "Harbor Nights" in Kings Warf and one in Hamilton. They are not on the same night. I don't remember which night but the ship excursion staff will know. We aren't drinkers but we have known fellow passengers who have gone to local bars and had a ball. There are dance clubs, etc. The best recommendation I can make it to go to Fodors website and click on Fodor's Choices. You can also go to the talk boards on that site about Bermuda and see what others recommend. There may be something your interested in. Bermuda is a quiet place. There are no casinos and the people are very friendly and not pushy. I must make a correction to my last post. The areas aren't referred to a provinces. They are called parishes. Sorry:o. Feel free to ask and I'll try to help.
