cruiseanywhere2 Posted February 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2011 Hello, just received our cruise information brochure and it states "there will be 4 formal nights and 8 smart casual casual nights on your cruise. you can also get involved in our fun theme nights. We expect the following theme nights to take place during your cruise, black and white ball and 60's and 70's. I thought the black and white night was a formal night but reading various posts dressing up on theme nights is optional. Can someone please enlighten me? SeaSickGill Posted February 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2011 The black and white ball is a formal evening, theme nights are on casual evenings and are optional, some dress up, some don't:)
Merlin7 Posted February 18, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2011 Apart from the B&W formal evening the only other theme night that is fairly well supported is the Tropical one, even if you are nowhere near tropical climates. 60's & 70's, Country & Western are less widely adhered too and none are enforced. cruiseanywhere2 Posted February 18, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted February 18, 2011 Thanks a lot. I wish PandO would make their literature more specisfic because as it reads it looks like black and white is a theme night and not one of the formal nights no wonder people get confused. Hmm I have got white and sliver accessories will that be ok?
Merlin7 Posted February 18, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2011 Absolutely fine. It's easy for the gentlemen but some ladies do not even bother with the black and white theme: greens, reds, and all sorts, so do not worry, just anticipate and enjoy your cruise. Brayman Posted February 19, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Many people get confused between a theme night and a dress code. For instance, the Black & White theme is seen all over the ship with Black and White Balloons, Black and White ribbons etc, most people extend the theme in to dressing in Black and White and as it is also a formal night it is easy to do for most people. The Tropical theme sees the restaurant staff in typically tropical highly coloured shirts and waistcoats and many people follow suit. Also, if you are lucky and it is warm enough a deck party is held with garlands and other colourful things until late in the evening. None of the theme nights are worth worrying about but they are thoroughly enjoyable!
