Toyz711 Posted February 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2011 we had a couple of ladies in flip flops, several in sandals. since it can be anything from rocky to wet and slippery, we did comfortable regular walking shoes. hiking boots would be over-kill for most us, unless you already own them? the path is unpaved, around/over tree limbs, wooden steps. then there are stone steps, grassy meadow..but it's only a 1 1/2 miles. i don't have good balance, have to make sure soles are non-slip. with an hour long bus ride and a 45 min boat ride, comfort and dry is more important then hiking. runner15km Posted February 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2011 I will be touring Lamanai. Suggestions for shoes? Hiking boots? Go to a Sports store and get fitted for a pair of running shoes. Look for Nike, Asics or New Balance. If they are good for running a marathon, trust me they will be great for your walking tours. They are light, vented and soft. No need to spend 150.00, you can find a good shoe around 70.00.
