cruz2see Posted February 25, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2011 Just wondered if anyone has ever gone to an evening ballet in St. Petersburg as an excursion through Princess Cruises. The on-line description of the excursion is very vague. If anyone has gone, please tell us whether or not it was a positive and worthwhile experience. Was the ballet/ theatre of high quality? Since we will have two full days of touring, we are debating whether to just stay on board and have a relaxing evening or take full advantage of our time in St. Petersburg to see a Russian Ballet. Thank you for any comments you may have.
Alexia68 Posted February 25, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2011 Hello, Cru2see. The quality of a ballet ( or opera) performance depends on the season. Unfortunately , most theaters in S.-P. have the original troupe away on a summer tour. But I didn't notice a difference when I went to see La Traviata in Mariinsky Theater few years ago in a summer. It was still VERY impressive and beautiful. Absolutely worth going to!
