cruiseohio Posted February 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2011 Has anyone ever taken the Carnival excursion to Universal Studios? How long were you really in the park? Trying to decide wheather it is worth the extra money to book it through Carnival or to do it on our own.

Either way it is a long way to travel for not many hours in the park and an expensive day to boot. Better to do this as a separate trip as it takes a good two days to really see it especially when very crowded.

We took our 2nd cruise (same itinerary as the 1st one) specifically to go to Universal's Islands of Adventure to see Harry Potter World. The transfer took about an hour, and we arrived right when the park was opening - around 10. We had a good 7 hours in the park, which was great. It was long enough for us to really check out everything in detail in the Harry Potter section (which is EXCELLENT if you are a fan!), then go thru the rest of that side of the park, and then go back and spent the final hour or 2 in Three Broomsticks :D I would def book thru Carnival due to the distance - they won't leave without you should something out of the ordinary happen during the bus transfer. BUT I agree with the other poster too - if you've never been, or really want to make sure you see both parks in Universal (there are 2) you are better off doing a land vacation to Orlando at some point. BTW, we went in October, so it was after schools were back in - really helped with having less crowds.
