hermajestylanie Posted February 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2011 I haven't seen a posting recently with food pictures, and I am trying to pass the time until my upcoming cruise. One of my favorite dishes from my Carnival Splendor cruise this past September was on the always available menu, the steak. The side dishes were really good! The peas were creamed and velvety and plump and the mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy (though a bit overcooked) with a nice crust- it was one of my husband's favorite things. The steak always came back cooked to perfection! And of course, the chocolate melting cake is sublime. I am addicted to chocolate and this suits me perfectly. My husband hates it (not a chocolate fan). I notice people ordering it with 2 scoops of ice cream because it is so rich. I don't mind. My husband's favorite dessert is the creme brulee (which he gets with a side of 2 scoops of ice cream). I don't care for it. Also, the banana diet cake (on the left) was really quite good. I was surprise, being the it was diet and all. But, yum! So, please submit your favorite items with pictures so I can work up a nice drool! hermajestylanie Posted February 27, 2011 Author #2 Share Posted February 27, 2011 This was really gross! It was the chocolate buffet night. The swan is really pretty, but was hard and nasty. Ice cream was decent. Mmmmm! Favorite part of chocolate day! The had a chocolate fountain with fruit, cream filled doughnuts, and chocolate rum balls. All dipped in chocolate! Pinapple beef from lunch in the MDR. Really good! Calzone from the pizza place. If it didn't have sausage, it would be superb! But the bread is soft and baked just right. Yummy and cheesy. hermajestylanie Posted April 3, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted April 3, 2011 On Golden princess: Pork belly. This was fantastic! Very tender. BBQ ribs. When compared to the rest of the food, they were not so good and a bit fatty. But overall the food was spectacular. This cole slaw was simply amazing. Apple strudel. Eh. This I did not like. The vanilla sauce was to thick and sticky too. OMG, the veal. So delicious and tender. I can;t believe how good it was. Chocolate pecan pie with butterscotch ice cream. Wonderful. I am singing it's praises. And I hate pie with a burning passion. But this.... this was something else. Anyone else got anything?
Rare Wildcatllamas Posted April 5, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Had the chocolate pecan pie on the Sapphire Princess and oh yeah that was wonderful.
hermajestylanie Posted April 5, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Mango cheesecake. It had the consistency of jello and was horrid: Sacher Torte. The menu didn't give a description; the waiter said it was chocolate cake. It was dry and had something like apricot or peach jelly in it. This was my least favorite dessert of my cruise. I just ate the whipped cream and chocolate roll after spitting out my bite: Molten Frdge Chocolate Obsession from Princess Crown Grill. This was really delicious! But, alas, not as good as the WCMC from Carnival: Baby Strawberry Cheesecake from International Cafe. Super good! Love cheesecake with crust: Fillet Mignon AND NY Strip from Crown Grill. Soooo tender and delicious. Fillet cut like butter! Selection of desserts from lunch buffet. Chocolate hazelnut torte (best! I kept eating these), coconut roll, blueberry pie, and lemon blueberry yogurt cupcake (this was the only bad one, it was dry):
hermajestylanie Posted April 5, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Frozen banana parfait, tasted like fresh bananas!: Souffle. I don't like them at all. Husband usually does, but all of thesr souffles we really terrible (to us at least) and tasted like gross egg. Chateaubriand. Oh, drool! So tender and cooked perfectly! Chicken salad from the IC. Ugh. People rave about it, but I like my chicken salad sweet. This was just chicken slathered in mayo. Bananas foster (complete with suggestive banana). Yum! Nutella ice cream. I believe Princess has the best ice cream on the seas (but I have only been on them and Carnival). So creamy and full of fat, plus really fantastic flavors. hermajestylanie Posted April 5, 2011 Author #9 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Semi frozen cookie and cream parfait. i don't know what makes it a parfait, but it was super good! Especially with the chocolate sauce I asked to be added to it: Floating islands, light and decadent! Watermelon and Feta cheese? Just strange: Cheesecake covered in marzipan. So good! I had never had marzipan, but it tasted like light almond, a little sweet. Crepes with apple filling and vanilla custard. I thought this was bad, vanilla custard is not my thing. But, it looks beautiful!: All the cakes and such from pastry extravaganza. The thick chocolate one was the best! And the cheesecake.
hermajestylanie Posted April 5, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Anyone else want to share pictures? I have done some from Carnival and Princess, but would love to see some food from other ships too, or your favorites/least favorites from these lines. Rare Wildcatllamas Posted April 6, 2011 #14 Share Posted April 6, 2011 We absolutely love the Ultimate Balcony Dinner that Princess offers. I believe it was $100 for the two of us and it came with a predinner cocktail, flowers, 4 course dinner and a bottle of wine. Here are some of the photos from that dinner: 190886

KCfan Posted April 13, 2011 #18 Share Posted April 13, 2011 This has to be the worst thing EVER!! While touring the Carnival Conquest we saw this cooking. It was just rolling around in that pan .... and the SMELL ...... undescribeable!!

cruisefanatic985 Posted April 13, 2011 #20 Share Posted April 13, 2011 Yeah the food pictures make you famished! lol. I always love taking pictures of my food. I work for a TA and our clients love seeing what the food options are. We usually carry large groups so everyone at our table is travelling with us so I dont feel awkward or rude taking photos. Our wait staff the first night thought i was crazy because I told everyone they couldnt eat until i took photos of their plate! Then the next night all of the plates got delivered to me first for photo-op! I also have menus from 8-day panama canal. I like making those who didnt go drool over the options to pick from! Piggyvkc Posted April 13, 2011 #22 Share Posted April 13, 2011 Don't have pictures but I love the Pumpkin Soup on Carnival ships--can't remember the full name, something like West Indian Pumpkin soup. I swear I could just have them fill the pool with that stuff and I'd paddle happily!

Now all this wonderful food is there for the world to see. OMG! that is cool! In that case, I will post more food pictures for everyone's viewing pleasure! BTW, I thought the cheesecake mice were cute! And the cheesecake was soooooo good. Duck gallentine or something... It was cole and had pate in the middle of it. It just looks really gross to me, but the husband said he liked it (though he only ate the outside): Oreo cookie crusted peanut butter pie. Whew, all of that packed in there equals good! The super delicious cheeseburger for lunch in the MDR. OMG, sooo good. Chilled mini raspberry panna cotta, gateau opera, Honey hazelnut semifreddo with nutella twist. The hazelnut (on the right) was super good and creamy. The opera was gross- it had coffee in it, which I don't like. So, so bad. I can't even express how bad this was. Dry and too fake citrusy. Sugar free passion fruit mousse cake: One of the standars, alfredo in a parm cheese bowl. Go cheese bowl!
Shazza1111 Posted April 13, 2011 #25 Share Posted April 13, 2011 Thanks for this post, that chateaubriand looked fantastic. I cannot get over the sizes of the meals, we sailed on the Pacif Jewel P&O and ate in the MDR, the meals where lovley but on the small which was helpful with portion control, has anyone else noticed this or is it just me:confused:
