Hi

Going on Solstice on the 5th Sept and wondered if anyone has detail of the charge for the shuttle water taxi between the cruise docking point and St Marks.

I am referring to the shuttle taxi that is operated by the Cruise ship .

RCCL Brilliance in September were charging $15 for a day pass and $25 for a 2 day (we overnighted).

We didn't use it ourselves...we took the people mover to Piazzale Roma and bought a vaporetto pass.

On our Century cruise last fall the costs of the Celebrity Shuttle were $19 for a one day pass and $35 for a pass covering both days. The Celebrity shuttle worked out well for us. The line for our first trip to St. Marks square was very long since as many passengers got off the ship shortly after it docked in the early afternoon. But the line moved very quickly as they had a number of shuttle boats lined up and the wait wasn't too bad. There wasn't much of a line for the return trip that night or for the trips the next day.

uktraveler, please explain more about the people mover and vaporette.

You can walk from the ship to the people mover building in about 15 minutes (easy to find)....you buy a 1euro ticket from the machine and get off at the last stop in Piazzale Roma. It's a very short journey, in fact you can walk to P. Roma if you wish. In the square you have to cross the road, heading towards the canal, and you will see the ticket offices and just behind the ticket office is where you board the water buses. As we were in Venice overnight, we bought a 2 day pass(17euro each) and that entitled us to ride the vaporettas as much as we liked. You can also buy the passes in advance online, but you still have to go to the P. Roma ticket offices to get it validated before you can use it.

If you would like more detailed information, let me know. :)
