Is anyone familiar with hotels in the Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood / Hollywood Beach area?

Since the search feature is no help, rather than try to read through every thread on the board, just thought I'd ask:

I never see anything mentioned on these boards about the Hollywood or Hollywood Beach areas. Is there a problem with the area? The hotels?

It has both 3 and 4 star hotels.

Can someone please shed some light on this subject for me?

Hi Faye,

Just to give you my opinion....I don't think there is anything wrong with the Hollywood area except...it's a distance from either cruise port in Miami or Port Everglades. The cab fare from either airport is quite expensive and same goes for getting to or from the ship...Expensive!!! The last time I checked I believe it was $40.00 from the airport to the Hollywood Beach area.(OUCH)

I hope that this might shed some light on answering your question!

Crazsea,

Thanks! Won't be staying there! Actually we just won a bid on Priceline for the downtown area - $75 for the Marriott Marina for pre-cruise, and $75 for the Renaissance post-cruise! Not bad, huh?

Hi Faye,

Good move! Ironically I just finished the exact same stays pre and post cruise at the end of April. You will love the fine service and cleanliness at both of these fine hotels.

You also did well with the price.

There are fancy restaurants and casual fun restaurants located all around you. The hotels are only maybe 200 yards apart on the same side of the road. I think you love them both!

Have a fantastic time, Jonathan
