HOLIDAY INN - Port of Miami - have you stayed there?

Trying to get some feedback from anyone that has stayed at the Holiday Inn, Port of Miami on Biscayne Blvd.

Looking for a pre-cruise hotel that's not going to be too pricey, but clean and in a safe location. This is for my 23-year old son and his fiance, so don't want "the kids" in a crummy hotel.

I understand that Bayside Marketplace is across the street and the Port is in view of the hotel. Are there restaurants you can walk to?

Will appreciate any help.

I stayed there in March this year, pre-cruise for 2 nights. I was with my 14 year old daughter so a safe location was also my main concern, and I wanted to be able to walk to the Bayside Market to save taxi costs.

The location is great, it is literally across the street. We walked back and forth several times. We asked for a view of the port, and each morning we could see what ships had arrived.

We took a walk downtown Sunday morning early, and all the shops have steel doors, I would imagine not a good place to be at night. But Bayside Market has lots of people and lots going on.

There are several restaurants, we had supper at the Hard Rock Cafe. And lunches at various water side places, the restaurants at Bayside are right along the water. We also took the Island Queen tour that shows the homes of the rich and famous. The Holiday Inn gives you a coupon book that gives discounts to this and lots of other stores and restaurants at Bayside.

The Holiday Inn's pool is small, and the dining room overlooks it, but we are from Canada so we were thrilled to be by a pool in March!

Your son can join the Holiday Inn Priority Club (for free) and get $5 off any meal in the hotel, we used that for breakfast.

The hotel is typical Holiday Inn, nothing more than you expect, but nothing terrible. I found the service very good, the room was decent and clean.

Hope that helps with your decision

We(family of 4) stayed there two years ago when it was Best Western. Hotel was a great safe location. Rooms were just average, but clean. We had an oceanview and were able to see Ships in the AM. Bayside Market is right across the street. We had dinner at Bubba Gumps and enjoyed it very much. Hope the kids have a great trip! I feel so much better knowing that the hotel is fine and so close to Bayside Marketplace.

You guys are terrific!
