Westlake Station light rail to Mayflower Hotel

Recommended Posts

In August we're booking the Mayflower Hotel that I understand has 'indoor' access through Westlake Center to the light rail train coming from the airport. Someone on CC has posted the normal walking 'route' from the station to the hotel. I found this notice online last night about renovations to Westlake Center. As we'll have luggage, which station exit will we need to take to walk around to the hotel?

"From Monday, April 4th until September 2011, construction will be limited to the interior of the shopping center. Commuters can continue to access Westlake Station at the Macy's, Century Square and Nordstrom tunnel entrances on Pine Street between 3rd and 6th Avenues.

The following changes will affect Westlake Center commuters and customers beginning Mon, April 4th:

  • All access points to Westlake Center Metro level will be closed
  • The Westlake Station entrance from the transit tunnel to Westlake Center’s Metro level will be closed through August 2011
  • Westlake Center retail elevators no longer will stop on the Metro level
  • Escalators within the shopping center between the Street and Metro levels will close."

Use this map: http://metro.kingcounty.gov/tops/tunnel/pdf/WestlakeMap.pdf

The Mayflower's "indoor" entrance is via the Westlake Center, but since the construction is going to close that route, you'll need to exit to the 4th Avenue street level (near nos. 1 and 4 on the mezzanine map) level walk a block north to the Mayflower, which is on the southeast corner of 4th Ave. and Olive St. If you find yourself in or next to Macy's, the Mayflower is directly across the street from the north end of the department store.

This might look a little confusing on the maps, but it's not that hard to figure out in person. There should be someone at the Metro information desk (No. 1) to point you to the closest exit.
