How to Book family of 5??

Recommended Posts

We really would like to do spring break, but it doesn't have to be allure/oasis. My husband and I took our first cruise last January on the Monarch of the Seas. We loved it but I think we (and especially the kids) would enjoy a bigger ship better.

What would be considered a good price for an inside cabin on oasis, I really have no idea.

We are coming from Washington State so would have to consider airfare too. I know that there are some cruises out of Texas and New Orleans too but don't know if the cost of air would be that much different than Florida.

Take a look at leaving from San Juan. Often cheaper and good ports.

The balcony across from the inside works well for most families and sounds like your best arrangement with teens.

You can get the family oceanview on the Freedom with 5 or more but you will need to very careful which cabin you get. The only ones that are actually bigger are the 2 cabins on deck 8. FO 8500 is the looong cabin - it has 3 rooms (one with bunk beds) and 4 o/v windows. FO 8200 has a larger "living room" and has a separate bedroom.

All the other decks are more like normal rooms just deeper and everyone is right in the same room. I would not recommend any of them with teenagers.

I have been looking into cruises on Royal Caribbean's website and am wondering what is the best (least expensive) way to book a family of 5. It would be myself, my husband and 3 kids age 17,14, and 9.

When I try to get a quote on the website it says 5 is over the limit in occupancy. I am not ready to call yet as I don't have the specific dates, I was just trying to get an idea.

In general, is it better to get 2 rooms or is one suite that holds 5 people more economical? We would want at least one room with a balcony for sure.

I would really appreciate any advice or tips you could give me. Thanks!

We booked for a family of 4 (2 adults and a 15 year old and 13 year old). We (my husband and I) did not want an interior room, but didn't want to pay for two balconies. We booked one balcony with an interior across the hall. The TA couldn't just look it up since they aren't adjoining, but I went through each category and looked at available rooms and found two that were right across from each other. It was more than 4 in a balcony room, but not by much and was a lot less than a suite. Plus we get two bathrooms. Our kids will hang in our room, but when one wants to sleep in, it won't be a problem and we can spread our luggage out. they can link your reservations once it is done.

You have many different options for a family of 5. The Oasis does have cabins for families of that size. I would be happy to get you all the different quotes of the different combinations if you would like! Just let me know your email and I will be happy to help you figure out how you want your family to travel!

We are a family of five that has cruised many times. Our children are now 20, 16 and 14 and for the past 4 years or so, we have been booking 2 balconys. We used to book connecting, but now just side by side rooms. Two bathrooms was the clincher for us. As long as you are booking far enough out, reserve that you want--you can always change your mind. Have a wonderful cruise!

There are many different ways you can book a family of 5. Feel free to email me and I would be happy to discuss them with you. Which week are you looking at traveling? Always pays to book out as early as possible. My company offers a best price guarantee, if the sailing price goes down we can usually get that price for you!

I am escorting a group on the Oasis in March of 2012. We booked it well over a year ago and it is now up over $100 per person . We all actually booked it while on the Freedom. RCCL gave us a great reduced down payment and ship board credit!

We LOVE to cruise. Feel free to email any time with any questions.

It saddens me that a lot of people do not know about signing up for another cruise WHILE still on board the ship! I have done it for over ten years.. with all of the cruise lines. I do konw a lot of people do not want to take the time out of their vacation to plan their next cruise but my husband and I always get a great deal. If you do call the cruise lines they will suggest doing it also. Great way to save a few dollars!! I highly suggest it!

I have a family of 4 and I would suggest that you call RCI and explore your options. I have had 2 adjoining insides, all in a suite, and balcony and 1 inside. You know best what you are comfortable with. 2 bathrooms is a big plus. As is not tidying up every few minutes. Your biggest challenge will be availablity during spring break. Book it now. Generally you know when spring break will fall. Take a chance, book it and if you need to change the reservation there is no penalty. Or, if you know it will be one of two weeks, make 2 reservations and then cancel one when the date is announced.

If you want phone RCCL with this line I a thinking of booking one room for a family of 5 sometime in sept 2012. Can you give a a ball park figure for that month in a family room with balconey. They will answer with that month the lowest fare for one room for 5 people is 1400.00 each for the first two for the lowest balconey room then it will be 870 for each additional person to a max of 4. Ask for the room # they are using. Check out where it is. then compare rate with nearing balconey room. Find where you want to be then call back and ask for that deck area if they have a family room near there how much it is.
