Ideas to surprise kids...

We are booked to sail May 1st on the Splendor. We have already broke the news to the kids. This will be a 1st cruise for all of us. Mom, Dad, Kids ages 12/13/14. My question is however, We have not told them that we will be flying in to Long Beach. They have never flown before.

We thought about waiting until we arrive at the airport the morning of or putting tickets in their Easter baskets....But I am open to any ideas...Thanks!!:rolleyes:

I think the easter basket is a great idea! We have one child who is a little OCD and doesn't do instant surprises too well. The other two would love it! There are other ways to surprise them. Maybe you could do a scavenger hunt with the first hint in the easter basket. Learning about a special excursion on the ship or a gift basket waiting in the cabins (my parents did this for halloween). You can make it an adventure all the way through! Have fun! ;)

As long as you know your kids and you know they won't freak about finding out last minute, I would just take them to the airport and not say a word until they start to ask.

 

Whenever I took my now almost 17 yo DD on a trip I would not tell her until the day of and when we were on our way to where we were going. She loved it every time. I am thinking of doing this one last time next year for her graduation and surprise her with a cruise out of NYC where we live. But that means packing for her and not sure if at this age I can get away with that LOL.
