Stockholm Public Transportation

Recommended Posts

Can you purchase the 24 hr. SL Visitor Card online and receive it by mail? I wanted to get the Stockholm Card, but our ship comes into Nynshamn and you can not get the Stockholm Card until you get into Stockholm. Unlike Helsinki, Copenhagen, and Tallinn, Stockholm does not offer to send their city card by mail.

Actually there are two Stockholm Cards, which may cause some confusion. One is the card you can buy online and receive by mail. It includes public transport as well as museums and some sightseeing. But not the regular ferry from Gamla Stan to Djurgården (where the Vasa Museum is located). This card costs 425 Swedish Kronor for 24 hours.

Or there is the 24 hour Stockholm Transport Card which I think you refer to. It is much better value for someone docking in Nynäshamn. It includes all public transport including the ferry to Djurgården. This card costs 100 Kronor plus 20 Kronor for the smart card you need to load it. The card can be bought just outside the train station in Nynäshamn; you don’t have to go to Stockholm first.
