Koval Posted April 17, 2011 #26 Share Posted April 17, 2011 We are considering taking our family on a Anniversary Cruise for my parents inDecember. That would include our soon to arrive granddaughter who would be 7 months old. There would be 8 adults and 1 baby, so I am thinking between all the adults we should be able to handle one infant. Anyone who can offer any great packing tips, traveling tips, ect. would be helpful. My email address is: tduke1111@aol.com. As we will be flying down the car seat seems to be one of our challenges. We will only need the car seat for transfers to and from the airport so hate to have to haul it just for that. We will not car travel with her in port. We have cruised several times so that will not be new to us - just the infant will be a change - and I might add I am so excited to be a first time grandma. Thanks You have mail... Oh and Congrats on being a Grammy soon what next month?...There is nothing like it. You only think you can't love anyone more than your own children, just wait to see how big your heart grows... Thanks Congrats on being a 1st time grandma! As far as the car seat, if you are arranging a private transfer (not through carnival), you should be able to find a transfer company that can provide a car seat. td1356 Posted April 26, 2011 #28 Share Posted April 26, 2011 Thanks so much for all your help. Can't wait for our baby girl to arrive. This is not a cruise question but to all the grandma's - I would love to buy my daughter-in-law a nice memorable gift when the baby is born. Leaning towards jewelry - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Chinchbug Posted April 26, 2011 #29 Share Posted April 26, 2011 The crew on the Fantasy was so good to our then 1 year old a few years ago that we tipped extra at the end of the cruise to the wait staff and dining room hostess. Every night when we showed up his place was set with yogurt and a spoon and all the breakables out of reach. When he fell asleep at dinner one night the hostess had people running everywhere to get rolled up linens to make him a pillow. It's like someone said earlier- they almost take better care of babies than adults- which is saying something.

With Mother's Day coming up soon, there should be plenty of Mother/child type jewelry, I think a necklace, often times I have seen one in a heart shape, with what looks to be a mom holding a child. Not sure what kind of stores you have there, but check your adds they should be running soon. (Anything mom/child should melt her heart) ;)
jules1121 Posted April 26, 2011 #31 Share Posted April 26, 2011 When we cruised last year DD was 13 months and we prepaid tips and yes there was NO fee for under 2. We made sure we gave our waiter and our room stewards cash though for taking such great care of us. :) We took an umbrella stroller but only used it to carry stuff on and off the ship at embarkation and debarkation. Besides that, we used our Ergo baby carrier when we were in ports.
