Has anyone done the SUB Experience in Nassau?

Recommended Posts

My husband and I have reserved the SUB Experience excursion in Nassau. (We're on the 4/30 sailing of the Gem.) It's the one described as riding an underwater motorbike. I'm interested to hear others' experiences with this excursion. Also, I'd like to know how far away from the ship it is. We've never been to Nassau, so I think I'd like a bit of time to explore as well as to do the excursion.

Thanks!

I was with an afternoon group of 6 from the Epic Ship on 12/9/2011 for the Stuarts Cove Sub Experience. I had a bad experience. I emailed the company upon my return and have received nothing more than an automatic reply over a week ago. Here is my experience.

1) We waited on the dock for quite some time before being escorted to a van to be taken to the Cove. This caused us to be late arriving. We all needed to use the rest room before excursion and were told where to go. When we came out the video was already almost over.

2) The "captain" did show us the "sub" and briefly explained how it worked. He did not caution us to be careful about how we entered the sub, however. When I entered it, I ran my face over an exposed sharp edge, cut my forehead and caused a large scape beneath my eye. My sub had bolts that were put in from the outside of the bubble with the shank being exposed and jutting out 1/4 inch or more into the bubble.

3) Although I was bleeding, no employees underwater seemed to notice or care. The sub I was in was difficult to stear and didn't run very well at all. Mine was not the only one that the divers pushed around part of the time.

4) I was left until the last to be taken aboard and the "captain" did acknowledge my injury and asked if I wanted some peroxide. I said I probably should, but he never brought me anything and never checked on me further. Another passenger from the Carnival ship also hit his head and cause a bloody spot, although not as severe as mine.

5) Because we were late they had another boat come to take us back to the cove. This boat splashed water all over us during the ride which was not pleasant. We were rushed from there back to the ship and did make it in time, but the rush did not allow me time ...and actually I hadn't seen the wound, to voice my concerns. My sister would have liked information about getting the video recorded, but that was not provided to us.

After paying a high excursion price, I certainly did not want to leave with scars as my souvenir. I asked for the cost refunded for the trip but more importantly to me is that they fix their equipment so that others are not injured in the future.

I would not recommend using this company.
