AZ Karaoke Girl Posted April 21, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2011 I always bring one of those multi-plug adapters for the outlet. Most cabins only have one outlet so if you need to plug in more than one thing, you need an adapter. Conditioner. They furnish shampoo & body wash (not the best but it works) but no conditioner. I typically bring all my favorite toiletries cuz theirs isn't very good. Some ships have hairdryers but they don't work well. If you have thick hair or absolutely need to have one, bring your own. my2monkeys Posted April 21, 2011 #13 Share Posted April 21, 2011 I also bring a travel alarm, as there are no clocks in the room. Ziploc bags, for wet swimsuits or anything else. Also one of those multi bag hangers (like you would put shoes in) to hang over the bathroom door to put extra toiletries, make-up, etc in. Have a great time!! Do you bring the travel alarm for a clock or for the alarm...cause they do have a wake up call service but it isn't great if you tend to hit the snooze button like I do cause you only get 1 call
tarheelmjfan Posted April 21, 2011 #15 Share Posted April 21, 2011 Well, I'm an over-packer. We don't wear anything twice & usually wear 2 different outfits a day (daytime & dinner), so I'm probably not the best to give advice. ;) A few things I always bring that you may not have thought of is pump soap & room air freshener. I hate scummy bar soap & the air freshener can come in handy in the small cabins. Also, a small first aid kit & any OTC meds I think we may need. If you want a list of those, feel free to ask. Colorado Kat Posted April 21, 2011 #23 Share Posted April 21, 2011 Carry a small backpack/tote onto the ship with you. Include electronics, medicines, and your bathing suit. You will be much more comfortable enjoying your first day. Your suitcase given to the porters will appear anytime between 2pm and 8 pm.
tkat Posted April 21, 2011 #24 Share Posted April 21, 2011 I thought I was prepared, but there are a few things listed I will have to pack as well. Thanks for the ideas. I would like to share a couple things I have done to make packing easier. I have taken an old motel card key and wrapped several layers of duct tape around it making it slimmer then the big roll of tape. This makes it fit into my toiletry bag and I just leave it in there. I noticed someone mentioned rain ponchos. I was laughed at on a trip once because I had them, but it was nice. I got the cheap ones from the dollar store (they come in a 2 pack) I put them in a sandwich size zip lock baggie, press out the air and then put them in the bottom of my backpack. I used the baggie to store the seashells we picked up along the shore, and used the ponch as a blanket to sit on the sand. It wasn't as great as a towel, but we weren't planning on the beach and we didn't get sand all over us.
