Combining a dive and snorkel trip - ??

Hi everyone,

 

While in Cozumel next month, we have scheduled a 2 reef combo. dive / snorkel trip with Eagle Ray Divers. My daughter, who is just now getting certified, will dive... my son and I will snorkel.

 

I know sometimes that the places that are best for diving, are different than the best places for snorkeling (i.e., there may be great marine life way below in a certain location, but less so at the surface). Do you think we're likely to get BOTH good diving and good snorkeling on the same trip?

 

If the snorkeling is really good, we'll probably go to Paradise Beach and hang out for awhile after we get back. If the snorkeling is just "so-so", we might rather go to Dzul Ha, Chankanaab, or even the Presidente InterContinental.

I did the Discovery Dive with Eagle Ray. The rest of my family snorkled, the there was another group of divers on the boat that dove nearby. Everyone enjoyed themselves and commented that there was plenty to see. The water in Cozumel seems to be set-up so that it starts of shallow and drops to 25-35 feet quickly (at least in the area we were at) which facilitates snorkeling/diving very close together.

 

 

I think everyone will be happy. Eagle Ray is great.
