Late Hotel Arrival For Comped Room Prior to Cruise

riddle

Recommended Posts

Kinda of a weird question...but we have a comped hotel for 2 nights in New Orleans prior to our Spirit cruise. It is comped through Harrah's Total Rewards program. We are guaranteed for late arrival after 6:00 p.m. but truth be known we will probably not arrive until 2:00 a.m. or later as we are driving in.

This room is totally free for 2 nights. Check in is 3:00 p.m. We have advised the hotel we will be arriving very late, after midnight on Friday night.

Can they give our room away or charge us for it? If check in is 3:00 p.m. on Saturday then I say we should be able to check in for Friday anytime prior to that (as it is technically still Friday night). We really want to get the room whatever time we get in so we can sleep a while and enjoy New Orleans prior to our cruise leaving on Sunday.

Does anyone have any experience with something like this on a comped hotel room? Thanks

not for a cruise, but we have checked in late for a comped room many times. we tell them when we make the reservations, we call them that day to remind them and (sometimes) we do a later call to verify.

you just need to let them know, if it's not on record then they will count you as a no-show and give the room to someone else.

i work at a casino/hotel, they have check-ins all night long, it's normal.

i agree with Toyz, comped or paid for. I always tell them when booking and re-verify the day of or day before. I usually get them telling me "yes we have you arriving late" but at least I know they have the information.

I have arrived as late as 5am on a comped room. As was noted, just let them know you will be arriving late. I would even call while in transit and let them know you are on the way and your expected arrival time - just to be sure. You will enjoy NOLA... it is a great town!

When we've been going to be late for a Harrah's comped room in NV we give them a credit card number to hold the room all night. They put a hold on the card but then reverse it when we check in.

Your best bet is to contact the hotel directly - late at night - speak to the person who is on duty - get hi9s/her name - tell him/her you are going to arrive very late and that you are DEFINITELY coming and not a no show...and to please save a room for you...that usually does the trick. Calling during the day you can get routed to all sorts of people who may or may not help...calling at night when the night check in clerk is the only one on duty is usually your best bet
