cajun_corgi Posted May 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2011 We will be in St. Petersburg in July and wondered if anyone has taken the excursion Regent offers to "An Evening of Russian Ballet". I love ballet and want to go, but have been told it is not a good performance. I dont want to be disappointed. If any of you who enjoy good ballet have taken this tour, please let me know what you thought. Thanks
Balliett Posted May 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2011 We did it a few years ago. The venue was great, an old theater, but don't expect to be rubbing elbows with locals or seeing the A team performers. We saw Giselle, and not the whole ballet. You are greated with a flute of champagne, and the evening is pleasant, but it ain't the "real thing." We will go back next summer (oceania line) and might arrange a private guide to go to a local production concert or ballet, whatever is playing. The trip will be during "white nights" when the sun and people stay up very late. (circa June 21) an excursion we liked even better was an after hour tour of Hermitage
