patchofheaven Posted June 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2011 We are leaving on our 5th cruise with Carnival on Saturday on the Triumph out of New Orleans - 7 day Exotic Western Caribbean (Belize, Cozumel and Isla Roatan) Belize and Isla Roatan are new ports for us. Looking forward to relaxing, catching some rays, eating great food and just having an awesome time with my husband and son.:) What is fun to do in Belize and Isla Roatan? Probably going to hit the beach in Isla Roatan...any nice beaches with decent snorkeling?

Cave tubing is highly recommended in Belize. There is a beautiful beach right at port in Isla Roatan, Mahogany Bay Beach. Ziplining with Clip N Zip is also very popular in Isla Roatan. beachbum6264 Posted June 2, 2011 #10 Share Posted June 2, 2011 The beach at Roatan is a 'man made' beach, not much for snorkeling. The friends of ours that went there said it was crowded and the water was murky. Try the excursion (through Carnival only now) for Maya Key. Small island, great snorkeling. Small beach, but not crowded. Just walk out to the end of the pier, down the ladder, and you are on the reef. Love it, been twice, will most likely go again in August. Lunch is great, and included. Belize has some great snorkeling, too (same reef). We always do the Barrier Reef/Bannister Island excursion with Carnival, because they pick up right from the ship and return to the ship. (and there's rum punch! :D)
Rodie H Posted June 2, 2011 #11 Share Posted June 2, 2011 Wow, leaving Saturday too, from Tampa on the Inspiration. Wonder if both ships will be hitting Cancun on same day?

DaDivaMom Posted June 2, 2011 #14 Share Posted June 2, 2011 Best snorkeling on Roatan is off Half Moon Bay, the reef is just about 100 yards off shore and they have a kayak you can take out. Catch a cab or book a driver through Viktor Bodden.
