Triumph May Progresso & Cozumel

We had an amazing time. This was my first time traveling on the Triumph but my travel partner had done so before (the Legend).

It's a great ship. Every staff member was helpful, friendly and courteous. From the room steward, waiters tom the casino staff. The ship is clean and sure there are some things could be updated but this did not negate from our experience in the least.

We tended to eat an early in room breakfast and on sea days we grabbed something light from the express buffet (after some time in the gym). We really enjoyed eating lunch in the restaurants (buffet food is not for me) and preferred the dining room choices that the food served on the lido. Dinner time service was ok but you we really didn't expect anything more from such a large operation and kitchen with no open flames (steaks are not quite the same and I am a self admitted food snob).

We were never hungy but I'm not a big eater. The Chef's table is worth the fee, even if for the tour of the galley. The food was ok and better than in the dining room (but again I'm used to dining out quite a bit).

We really enjoyed both exursions in Mexico - Uxmal booked through the ship and our day at Nachi done independently. The Mexican food at both places was really really good. Uxmal was well worth visiting and exceeded my expectations. The bus ride there didn't seem overly long and going there was occupied with the guides outline and talk of what we were about to see.

I used the gym each day, even on excursion days - there was some waiting time for the machines on the first sea day, after that there wasn't a wait for anything. The casino was great and the hosts very good at remembering you. We did spend some time on the deck but we also spent a good deal of time on our balcony. The chairs besides the pool were taken pretty early but we preferred to be up above on one of the side decks.

There was a good mixture amongst the guests. As you would expect a ton of people from the south but a nice mix of ages and enthusiasm :) We found everyone to be pretty freindly.

We stayed in a suite and I'm glad I upgraded from a balcony when I did. Having my mom with me we definitely enjoyed the extra space (the extra chair, table and changing room) and the extra room on the balcony - we spent a lot of time out there.

Embarkation was a breeze with VIP status. The seperate check in room was a nice touch and we didn't have to wait very long in the cordined off seating area - we borded right after the wedding guests as promised.

I'm not a cruise fanatic and never considered a cruise before being talked into it for a vacation with my mother. I would cruise again, perhaps in a another few years but I would want to try a different ship and destinations. I would definitely consider Carnival when I'm ready to go again. I have a ton of pictures and will attempt to post.
